Military-Industrial Complex Needs New Bogeyman I don't know about Denmark, but there's a distinct odor coming out of Washington these days. It's becoming painfully obvious that the "Islamic Terrorism" thing they came up with to replace the "Communist Menace" just isn't working. Oh, sure, the "911" bit was pretty impressive, but, what have they done lately? Think about it! Washington's new "bogeyman" went from bringing down both towers of the World Trade Center, to some clown trying to set fire to his shoes in the cheap-seats on an economy flight, in just a matter of days? (Oh, how the mighty have fallen!) Sorry, guys, but if you want to get away with jacking up the defense budget and turning America into a police state, you're gonna' have to show me more than just endless repetitions of the World Trade Center collapsing, yada, yada, yada. It appears to me that Osama bin Laden is, at best, nothing more than a one-shot-wonder who has long since crawled back under his rock. And, what about the millions of highly trained terrorists who are supposedly creeping around our back yards looking for targets of opportunity? I hate to say this, dudes, but your performance has been pretty pathetic lately. It's not like there's any lack of targets for an enterprising terrorist. I mean, if they really wanted to disrupt our "way of life," and totally destroy our economy, they'd be blowing up malls. And what about those gigantic LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) storage tanks all around the country? One of those could take out an entire town. And, no, I'm not telling them anything they don't already know. You'd have to be pretty much brain dead not to recognize targets like those. What, have the Saudi's run out of money, or something? The thing that really scares me is the apparent lack of healthy skepticism on the part of the American people with regard to the appalling lack of entrepreneurial spirit on the part of the Military Industrial Complex's new "terrorist bogeymen." But, then again, maybe the real purpose of Bush's "Homeland Gestapo" is to round up all the skeptics…. (Whoops!) |
